Lower Township Healthy Youth Community Advisory Panel

The Steering Committee is responsible for:

Monitors the progress of the coalition’s projects against its goals, objectives and projected timelines.
Provides a forum for discussion of coalition related plans and helps determine best practices and effective use of time and resources
Encourages and strengthens links between local agencies, businesses, and individuals.

(The Community Advisory Panel meets monthly and guides the coalition in its efforts)

SCHOOL INITIATIVE

We keep current on school policies, focus on substance misuse prevention resources and programs for schools, and engage youth in coalition projects.

COMMUNITY

INITIATIVE

We collaborate with township businesses, government and community members to provide fun-filled alternative activities for youth and families.

UNDERAGE DRINKING PREVENTION

We increase awareness of social host laws, private property ordinances, and work with the township to reduce youth access to alcohol by providing responsible beverage training.

YOUTH MARIJUANA PREVENTION

We build awareness that marijuana is harmful, educate on the legal consequences of recreational marijuana, and encourage local schools and the police to collect data for future funding opportunities.

YOUTH Rx PREVENTION

We encourage the use of drop boxes and educate the community on safe disposal of medication. We also work with schools to provide training to school employees on the harmful effects of Rx misuse to students.

YOUTH

SECTOR SUBCOMMITTEE

We host a youth-led subcommittee to speak on behalf of local youth. Youth are encouraged to share their views of what is needed in the township.
